Today, Android has taken-over the major part of mobile market. Looking back in the history behind its formation shows that Android Inc was not really founded by Google itself. Initially, the incorporation was founded in Palo Alto, California in October 2003, by Andy Rubin and his partners and was later taken-over by Google Inc.
Android, Google’s Mobile OS has gone through a long way since its first commercial release in September 2008. The very first device to introduce Android was the HTC Dream incorporating Android’s 1.0 version. Later on, it was followed up by Android’s 1.1 version which was exclusively released for T-Mobile G1 only.
In its early days, it seemed to be nothing more than a buzzword, but after a few handset releases ,it grabbed attentions of most of the users. Now the story has so many versions from Android 1.0 to Android’s 4.3 Jelly Bean. And no doubt Android has been improved with it’s every single release.
For now, Android powers more than 70% smartphones and about 42% smart devices (smartphones + tablets) all over the world. Its app store, officially known as Google Play, has been confirmed to host more than 700,000 apps.
These data prove that Android is far ahead in the race of wealth and reputation when it is compared with others like iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.
