Google acquired Timeful, the task and calendar app of iOS.
The latest acquisition of Google is Timeful which was initially launched as an iOS app in July 2014. The app provides support for managing calendar and tasks. The experts of the field are taking this acquisition as another attempt of Google to focus largely on mobile platform and application development.
Behind Timeful is an impressive system that lets users organize their life by understanding their schedules, habits and needs. It can be set with a lot of tasks and calendar events such as getting reminded about the exercise 3 times a week or about a call to be made to bank next Monday. The system lies in Timeful makes sure that users get the set tasks done based on understanding of their priorities and schedule.
Now Google wants to take the functionalities a step further by integrating them to products like Inbox, Calendar. With these functionalities, the company aims to push accurate notifications at individuals using smarphones. Users will require putting information in their phone calendar to get better reminders and notifications about the actions they have to take.
Timeful’s time management system is based on behavioral science. The company behind the app, founded in 2013, attracted $6.8 million as funding investors like Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, Greylock Partners, Data Collective, Pitango Venture Capital, and Khosla Ventures.
In February this year, Microsoft too acquired start up Sunrise which made a smart calendar app for iOS and Android
