Indie mobile developers can hardly survive with freemium app model.

A number of mobile developers are gaining good returns by adopting freemium gaming model. But, this system isn’t picture-perfect because it’s referred as a “pay to win” approach that means it wants users to pay for something if they want to win in game even when the game is labelled as free.
Also, it requires mobile developers to work harder to stay in race. Adopting freemium model put mobile developers in competitive environment where they can take their apps towards success only if they are able to drive innovation and leverage flexibility. But as it’s already known to all mobile developers, end-users do prefer freemium gaming apps. They want mobile developers to choose the freemium model to monetize apps. On the flip side, smaller developers cannot wait so long for returns to grow up on any investment they seeded in an app.
Games based on freemium model allow users to progress deeply without paying a single penny.  And of course they bound users into such relationship where they happily want to pay to keep going. If a small purchase of power removes the obstacles that are holding users back to ultimately win the game and taste the fruits of playtime of several days, they would do that purchase. It’s also observed that freemium games can never be won without in-app purchases. But small developers cannot wait so long to get audience matured and then get paid. They want returns ASAP and yes, it’s necessary for their survival.
Indie mobile developers see freemium model as big hurdle in getting the real juice out of their free or in-app-purchase apps. Large developers or what they are loosely called, AAA studios have all the good cards in hand to do better even with freemium apps, and thus they can delay the desire of winning because they know that at the end, they would win.
Big mobile application development companies are doing pretty well with their freemium gaming apps but for small, individual developers, going freemium is nothing put putting yourself in struggle. Freemium isn’t a fair platform for indie developers even if their apps are far more dynamic and do perfectly comply with ongoing trends as well as evolution in technologies.
Freemium mobile app developers have also seen anger of users and a few legal battles too when young children paid for in-app purchases without the consent of their patents.  Now Apple no longer labels freemium apps as free apps. Instead, it classifies them as “Get” after the Federal Trade Commission sued Apple.
