Major expectations from Android in 2015
Google’s stars will continue to shine yet another year. Apart from its main business – search engine – Google’s enterprises like YouTube, Google X, and of course Android OS will grow further in the year ahead. Android’s department had been busiest one in 2014 and this year, here is the list of top things taking place around Android at Google. Many of these are the expansions of previously initiated implementations.
Google launched Android One in September 2014. The company has aimed this project at standardizing quality of low cost devices in developing markets. In India, Google launched the project by tying up with three local mobile maker companies Spice, Micromax, and Karbonn. In December, the company expanded the program to other Asian countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. As reports say, Google originally wanted to launch Android One project in Philippines and Indonesia but now those launches, along with launches in other countries, will likely take place in the year ahead.
In November 2014, company unveiled Android Lollipop. It is Google’s one of “largest, most ambitious” Android releases so far. There are major renewals in overall design and UI in the latest release – Android Lollipop.
Google released Android Wear in 2014. Now this year, the company has target to expand Android Wear’s reach to more smartwatches and wearable gadgets. Company has a major concentration on wearable technology. According to CNET, shipments of wearable gadgets would surpass 100 million units by 2018.
Android Market Share
Today, Android holds the largest share in global smartphone market. Its current position is almost unchallengeable. According to recent statistics, Android has grabbed the largest slice of market share pie. More than 85% smartphones over the world are running Android as the core software. Experts of the field say that Android’s market share have not still reached a saturated level and thus may further increase, particularly in terms of tablet and convertible devices. They believe that Apple will lose tablet market share in 2015.
This year Google Play will have even more apps. Now businesses have begun to take Android seriously, including Android application development in their mobile IT infrastructure development strategy and implementations.
