What new you can expect from Android O
Google has not officially named the next version of Android. It’s still known just as “O” however, the company has released its final preview. Unlike previous versions, Android O is expected to be used by more users. Big thanks to Google’s Project Treble.

This new feature being added to Android O, without doubt, is the most advanced implementation done by far. However, users will not be able to notice it but enjoy its benefits when device-vendors and carriers timely update Android devices. Up until now, they either take months and even a year to update their devices or many just do not do that at all. With OS updating on time, experts hope more decrease in Android fragmentation.
With a new vendor interface between Android and vendor’s hardware, the gap between OS and firmware is bridged and in result, users may always have an updated operating system in their devices. Now device vendors should be able to push new Android updates without any need of additional silicon coding.
“We’re working closely with device makers and silicon manufacturers to both get required Android customizations (such as carrier-specific requirements) into AOSP, and reduce their cost and complexity when updating to the new version of Android. For example, Sony and Qualcomm have already contributed dozens of features and hundreds of bug fixes into AOSP [Android Open Source Project) so they no longer need to rework these patches with each new release of Android” the Android O Development team recently said in Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA).
What users can expect from Android O is as follows:
Rapid OS boot and launch of apps
As promised by Google, Android O powered devices will boot faster and users will experience rapidity when they will launch an app. This new version is prepared to deliver crisper performance from the same hardware on which Android Nougat is already running.
Picture-in-picture (PIP) mode
Nougat already allows you running apps in split-window mode but the Picture-in-Picture enables you to have a PiP-supporting app running top on another apps. For example, you can watch YouTube videos while downloading files.
More life to battery
We all want your Android Phones’ battery enduring for all day and even the next day. Google has heard your wishes this time and provided more battery to devices by restricting background activities which keep draining battery in most cases. The feature de-prioritizes background functions and adds more life to an Android device’s battery. It just turns off idle apps to add an hour more or two to battery.
Contextual press-to-act options
Some tasks are always difficult to do in a smartphone. Take the example of copying an address from email and pasting it over Google Maps. You will really require paying extra attention to perform this task. Now on Android O, when you do something like this a time or two, the system will learn that you want to use maps to get directions. Now next time when pressing on address, it will automatically start you on your way.
Better Bluetooth audio
Do the regular Bluetooth audio not satisfy you anymore? No problem because Android O is coming with native support of LDAC Sony’s hi-rest Bluetooth audience codec. LDAC, with providing a bit rate of 990kbps, is too close to lossless audio coded quality. There are several other changes which will further provide better control over sound quality.
